about SIMON

The “IT GP”

Why IT GP? Because I describe myself as a General Practitioner of IT, i.e. computers and phones.

I’ve been in the IT Industry for 30+ years. I ran a business building websites for 15+ years, worked for an IT support company for 7 years and still assist clients with their websites and other internet related issues. Plus, I love gadgets and getting the most out of them in my day to day life!

Since 2018, I have also cared for my elderly parents and through my dealings with the Aged Care Sector, I have seen many people struggling with the ability to use IT to do jobs that were once simple. My natural instinct is to try and help, but I realised that without a sort of “classroom” attitude, the tips I give can go in one ear and out the other.

I’m also very patient, so no need to feel stupid if you don’t get something the first, second or even third time! Plus, I should warn you, I’ve been know to have a very cheeky sense of humour!

So, I decided to formalise the process and set up this business. Welcome to the IT GP!

How I work

I can come to your place, or we can meet in a cafe, or similar. Whatever makes you feel comfortable. If you’d like to have someone else there, that’s fine too, though it’s easier if we concentrate on one topic at a time.

We can meet for a one off session, or we can spread the lessons over a period of time. From my experience, I recommend we start with a 30 minute session, as new ideas and techniques can be a lot to take in on occasion. That said, I will do my best to keep things simple and easy to absorb.

If required, I can also do IT support and troubleshooting, though this is a different job to giving IT guidance. There may be times where the required repairs are outside of my skill set and I may have to recommend a specialist.

$45 per ½ hour for training/guidance (i.e. how to use)
$55 per ½ hour for repairs/tech support (i.e. fixing problems)
(All prices include GST.)

Payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, EFT, cash.

Payment methods accepted

NSW Police Check

For piece of mind, I have a had a police check done recently. I can supply this on request.

…and here’s me having nothing to do with computers!
